Dr. Barbara Vacarr, President of Goddard of College, and the Goddard Board of Trustees announced on Thursday, July 25, 2013, that Dr. Vacarr will be stepping down as President at the end of the 2013 calendar year.
Dr. Vacarr joined the College in 2010 after a distinguished career as a leader in developing innovative programs for adult learners. In addition to her leadership, she brought to Goddard an academic background as a psychologist and adult educator.
We can't thank you enough! With the support of alumni, parents, friends, students, faculty, staff, foundations, and corporations, Goddard College raised a total of $602,558.83 in charitable gifts, grants, sponsorships and miscellaneous income or the fiscal year ending June 30, 2013.
We were also successful in:
• Matching a $50,000 challenge gift made by 3 anonymous donors.
• Securing 50 new donors to help us secure a $5,000 challenge gift.

A highlight for me of the Spring 2013 Port Townsend Undergraduate residency was our guest presenter Tracy Rector (photographed above by David Conklin.) Tracy is Executive Director and Co-Founder of Longhouse Media whose mission “is to catalyze indigenous people and communities to use media as a tool for self-expression, cultural preservation, and social change.”
To celebrate Walter Butts, I want to write specific things about what it was like to work with him. Here is a sentence that I have found myself saying over and over since he passed away:
Walter Butts was one of the best colleagues I ever had.
