Biography

During a time when social responsibility is too often treated as a “curiosity,” I have recommitted myself to cultivating sustainable systems and approaches that promote healthy exchanges between us, as knowledge workers, artists, healers and global citizens. When these methods are used mindfully and, are part of a daily rigor, they help preserve our efficacy and dignity in response to conflicts or for revising a paper.

As an interdisciplinary writer, theater artist, photographer and educator, my work integrates social change, critical and popular culture issues, human sustainability, urban gardening and the sacred arts practices. My literary, performance and visual works have been published, staged and exhibited in the United States and internationally in Malaysia, Singapore, England, France and Germany. A recently completed novel explores the early years of the AIDS crises through the fictional biography of a drag queen. An excerpt from this book will appear in the anthology that celebrates the life, art and activism of Joseph Beam. My performance play-text, Seens From the Unexpectedness of Love, will be published by Duke University Press (Fall 2015), in Black/tino, A Queer Performance Anthology.

Currently, I am also Writing Faculty at New York University, in Faculty Arts and Science.
